Popeyes’ unfathomably good chicken sandwich — the spicy one. Black Jesus, the spicy one — has been MIA since August. The fast food bird chain introduced it on August 12, almost immediately got into a Twitter war with one of their homophobic chicken rivals, and the sandwich almost instantly sold out nationwide. They promised it would be back sometime the following month.
September came and went. No chicken sandwich. Just a series of empty promises and the correlated empty stomachs.
October is almost in the history books, and still there’s no Popeyes chicken sandwich in sight. The chain is now promising it will be back in “early November.” But I don’t believe them. I won’t be fooled again.
And I’m going to suggest you mark your calendars for November 29th. That’s Black Friday.
You heard me: I predict Popeyes will relaunch their epic sandwich just in time for the throngs of holiday shoppers that will descend upon retail outlets that Friday. After a few hours, they’ll all be hungry.
And Popeyes will be waiting for them with plenty of sandwiches.
And all will be good.
All will be good.
And it will foretell a very Merry Christmas, indeed.
